Visa Keynoting the Transport Ticketing Conference

By Nick Mackie, Head of Chip and Contactless for EU

Transport Ticketing Global, now in its 11th year, has become the world’s largest public transport ticketing conferences and one that Visa is proud to sponsor.

Over the course of the two day event in London, representatives from cities around the world and leaders in the fields of transport ticketing and payments will gather to share their experiences and hear from industry experts. Transportation plays a critical role in the vitality and viability of a city and these discussions will help shape the cities of tomorrow, preparing them for the challenges that the future will bring.

At this year’s show, I will be delivering a keynote presentation, laying out the success that cities have had in improving the customer experience of transit payment over the last year. Cities as diverse as Dijon and Milan, Sydney and Vancouver have led the way in providing seamless, universal payments on their transit networks. (You can read more about the momentum that we’ve had in the Visa transit program here)

I will also be joining colleagues from the wider payment industry, along with representatives of leading technology companies such as Worldline, in discussing the road to success through contactless ticketing.

Most importantly however, I will be speaking of the challenges cities worldwide are facing, as the pace of urbanisation grows.

How can these cities successfully ensure that they drive economic growth? How can they safely and speedily connect people with their work and loved ones? And crucially, how can city authorities and transit agencies help ensure that the megacities of tomorrow are place we would all wish to live.

If any of the above challenges are ones that excite you as much as they do all of us at Visa, please speak to us at Transport Ticketing, meet with us at MWC2019 in February where we will have more to say on the future challenges that urban mobility faces, or contact the team.
