Huawei PAY and Visa, taking payments to the next level of safety and comfort

The world has reached a state of fast technological evolution across almost every part of our civilization. As societies around the world thrive, their economies create new business models, enabling user experiences beyond imagination a few years ago.

We can regularly see how innovation improves people’s daily lives, which solidifies our determination to keep building the best ecosystem of mobile services to offer to society. With that goal in mind, we know that it is critically important for us to forge alliances with the best partners in every domain. To be able to offer pioneering innovations to our consumers, with the potential of being eventually adopted by everyone, it is necessary to be proactive, bold and anticipate the future.

Mobile is the epicentre of that period of changes. We’re halfway to connecting the entire world with mobile phones – close to 5 billion phones; 2.5 billion of which are smartphones. In Europe 77% of people use their phone to bank and make everyday payments. Consumers are feeling increasingly comfortable doing transactions on their mobile devices, moving away from desktops and laptops as nearly half (48 percent) of Europeans use a mobile device to shop.

Huawei Mobile Services already has more than 460 million users globally, across over 170 countries, including more than 32 million in Europe. Huawei is committed to build a global distribution platform, provide open technical capability and comprehensive support for partners and developers, ensuring high-quality experience to our users in all scenarios, always keeping security and privacy in mind.

At Huawei, we are announcing our partnership with Visa to make the most of Visa’s intelligent Token Service technology and bring Huawei Pay to certain European Countries.

Being able to conduct any outdoors activity such as sports, just focusing on enjoying it, and having the possibility of paying for a breakfast or buying a soft drink with a flick of your wrist is something that we will undoubtedly see frequently in the coming months in our cities. Accessories and commodities need to adapt to the user’s habits, and not the other way around.

But innovation alone is not enough. That's why in Huawei we are partnering with Visa to offer the highest levels of security in transactions, so that privacy is secured and contactless transactions made with any of our devices offer the highest level of security possible.

We will keep listening and learning from our users, in order for us to keep designing how to make their lives easier and more enjoyable.
