Cashless Sweden

By Christina Lind, Sweden Country Manager • Visa Europe

November 05, 2015

“I can’t recall the last time I held a Swedish bank note in my hand”, says Christina Lind, the Visa Europe Country Manager for Sweden. Her country just featured in this Quartz.com article, that claims ‘Cashless Sweden: Sweden is on its way to becoming the first cashless society on Earth’.

Christina explains: “Due to the digitalisation of person-to-person payments, and the ease and accessibility of card use across the nation, most Swedes live their lives close to cashless. That includes me”.

“Taking yet another step towards a cashless society in Sweden, we are contributing with our share through supporting the market in implementing contactless acceptance nationwide during 2015 and 2016”.
